Voter Registration

The federal "Help American Vote Act of 2002" requires any person registering to vote to supply his or her Wisconsin Department of Transportation issued driver's license number. If the elector has never been issued a Wisconsin driver's license, he/she must provide the last 4 digits of their Social Security Number OR their Wisconsin state ID card number. If the elector does not have a current, valid Wisconsin driver's license, Wisconsin state ID card, or Social Security Number, the applicant may indicate this by filling in the appropriate circle on the Wisconsin Voter Registration Application (EL-131) (PDF).

State law requires any voter submitting a registration application to provide a copy of an acceptable identifying document that provides proof of residence.

Online: Up to 20 days before the election, voters with a valid Wisconsin Driver License or Wisconsin State ID card issued by the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) can register online on the My Vote Wisconsin website. To register online, the voter must enter a name, date of birth, Driver License or ID number and address that matches what is on file with the Wisconsin DMV. If all fields match, the voter will be able to register to vote completely online without needing to print, sign or mail the form and without needing to send a proof of residence document. Voters who are not able to match their information with the information in the CMV database will be given the option to register by mail. For more information. see Online Voter Registration.

Mail: Registration forms should be mailed to the Village Clerk's office. You can start your voter registration form online at My Vote Wisconsin. Your form must be printed, signed, and mailed or delivered to the municipal clerk. You must always provide a proof of residence document when registering. The application must be postmarked no later than the 20th day (third Wednesday) before the election.

In Person: Register in the municipal clerk's office up to 5:00 pm on the Friday before the election. An elector registering in person in the clerk's office is required to present acceptable proof of residence.

Election Day: You may register at the polls on Election Day. You must always provide a proof of residence document when registering to vote.
